Sakura and the Strange Magic Book
It all begins on a rainy morning at the Kinomoto house: while looking for a book in the basement, ten-year-old Sakura stumbles upon an ancient, sealed tome adorned with a sun-and-moon motif. Intrigued despite the warning engraved on its cover, she opens it -- a seemingly harmless gesture that will turn her whole life upside down.
The book releases the 52 Clow Cards in a single gust, instantly scattering them across the city of Tomoeda, along with their guardian Kerberos, a winged creature that had been asleep for decades. Faced with disaster, Kerberos has no choice but to name Sakura, the only one capable of channeling the surrounding magic, as the new Cardcaptor tasked with retrieving every card before it wreaks havoc.
Armed with a key transformed into a star-shaped wand, Sakura captures her very first card that same night, in a founding scene that mixes fright with wonder. This episode lays the groundwork for the entire series: the endearing duo she'll form with Kerberos, her determination despite the anxiety, and the irreversible shift from an ordinary childhood to a life now governed by magic.
